Purpose
Entry Criteria
The course requires a level of fitness to demonstrate competency for the skill being trained.
Learners must hold the unit standards 23229 and 25045 (Working at Height Basic) to enrol in the course. It is preferred that they also hold unit standards 15757 and 17600 (Working at Height Advanced) alongside the basic requirements
Course Objectives
At the successful completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Understand the unique risks faced by the solar industry and apply appropriate risk controls.
- Identify safe anchor points and their correct application.
- Use proprietary fall arrest systems effectively.
- Install and dismantle straightforward proprietary fall arrest systems using designated anchor points.
- Check, fit, and correctly use a safety harness.
- Safely use a safety harness where a fall hazard exists at height.
- Demonstrate understanding of the rescue plan to be activated in the event of a fall.
- Safely retrieve a worker trapped within a fall arrest system.
