Purpose

People accredited with these unit standards are able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Asbestos and associated health risks.
  • Measures to protect people doing asbestos-related work against asbestos exposure risk.

Course Objectives

After successfully completing this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of asbestos and associated health risk.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of measures to control respiratory risk for people doing asbestos-related work.

Who Should Attend

This unit standard is for people whose work may bring them into contact with asbestos.

The VHNZ course is designed for individuals engaged in unlicensed asbestos work - those working with bonded non-friable) asbestos in small quantities.

Pre-Requisite

While there are no formal pre-requisite requirements for the course, it is advantageous to have prior knowledge and hold unit standard 2138 - Demonstrate understanding of asbestos and safety procedures.
