Our Maori/Pasifika Programmes inspire to achieve!
Whenua Ruwhiu signed up to the Vertical Horizonz MSD Train to Work programme having left high school (Kura) and unsure of his employment pathway.
Originally interested in working within an IT space he began looking at the requirements, however realised that some solid trade qualifications could help him out in the future also. He jumped on to our TTW course in 2019 which was conducted at Parawera Marae in Kihikihi, and half way through the programme had an employer ask if he was keen to work for him as a scaffolder. Whenua was surprised, and took the opportunity.
Today he remains in the industry and is now starting his steps of gaining further scaffolding qualifications!
