We have the pleasure of working closely with the Rescue 3 New Zealand team to provide extra training options in areas such as Swift Water Safety. Trainer Dan has recently carried out a Basic Water First Responder session with the Civil Defense Auckland Response Team, and has captured the session with some great images!
This 1.5 day course is designed to provide students with both a theoretical and practical knowledge of the basics of swift water safety. The class includes a half day of classroom instruction and one day of practical field exercise. Students are trained in hazard recognition, equipment use, and basic shore based techniques, as well as a wide variety of other skills.
After completing this course individuals have a good understanding of personal safety and dangers associated with floods and fast moving water, and are also capable in a support role for higher level rescuers in more demanding situations.
