Purpose

The purpose of this course is to enable learners, at the wind farm owner’s discretion, to inspect wind turbine CO2 fire extinguishers in accordance with Table 6.11 of NZS 4503:2005 at the required annual interval.

Course Objectives

At the successful completion of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Carry out visual inspections and weight checks of CO2 fire extuingishers within wind turbines.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the serviceability and condition checks required for extinguishers.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining a fire extinguisher inspection record.
  • Apply fire safety compliance procedures as per NZS 4503:2005.

Who Should Attend

Delegates must have the equivalent to Level 3 English communication skills, and be physically fit to operate safely, without assistance. Delegates are also required to comlete a medical self-assessment form on commencement of the course to certify they are capable of fully participating.

Delegates are required to be WINDA registered before arriving for the course.

Although this course is non-unit standard based, we recommend learners refresh their knowledge every 24 months.
