PURPOSE

This course is designed to train and qualify experienced personnel to participate in assessment processes as a workplace verifier. Verifiers do not make final assessment decisions.

Verifiers support the assessment process by:

  • Verifying that evidence provided by a learner is valid and authentic.
  • Confirming that the learner’s practice is in accordance with contextual requirements, and
  • May include observing the learner completing practical tasks, and commenting on performance.

The course provides appropriate training and qualification for anyone engaged as a workplace verifier: For example, as an on-the-job or apprenticeship verifier.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Explain assessment and verification processes.
  • Prepare for verification.
  • Conduct verification.
  • Complete verification administration.
  • Review assessment verification practice.
COURSE ASSESSMENT

PART 1 (THEORY): This section is completed online answering a series of questions. (Up to 30 minutes)

PART 2 (PRACTICAL): This section is an assignment that you will need to complete in your workplace. The workplace verifications will provide the evidence for assessment of the candidates competence. (Up to 2 hours)

SPECIAL NOTE

It is essential that the verifications providing evidence for this unit standard are real. Simulations will not be used for the assessment of unit standards unless their use is common practice for the type of unit standard being assessed, e.g. emergency response.

If trainees do not have access to appropriate assessments for use in the workplace, relevant verification materials may be purchased from VHNZ. VHNZ will provide hard copies of the assessments, a marking guide, and moderation report.

OUR TEACHING METHOD

Delivery via eLearning with support from an experienced trainer.

For the best eLearning experience, we recommend using a laptop or tablet with a strong internet connection. While smartphones can be used, please note that the course content and assessment format may work optimally on larger screens.
