COURSE OBJECTIVES

On completion of this eLearning course trainees will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of machinery lockout and reinstatement.
  • Lockout machinery.
  • Reinstate machinery.
OUR TEACHING METHOD

Delivery via eLearning with support from an experienced trainer.

For the best eLearning experience, we recommend using a laptop or tablet with a strong internet connection. While smartphones can be used, please note that the course content and assessment format may work optimally on larger screens.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is for people working with machinery.

This course also provides credits toward VHNZ’s New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety (Level 3).

SPECIAL NOTE

Once the trainee has completed the online learning and assessment questionnaire, they will be required to complete a practical activity under the supervision of an appropriately qualified person (see Note below), who will be required to attest that the candidate has successfully isolated and reinstated a machine (or piece of equipment) and completed the appropriate documentation in accordance with their organisational procedures.

In the event that your organisation does not have an appropriately qualified person, then VHNZ will provide an assessor to conduct the practical activity at the client’s cost.

NOTE: An appropriately qualified person is someone who is familiar with their organisational isolation/lockout tagout procedures, and is either a supervisor and/or permit issuer who, in addition to holding unit standard 17590, also holds the lockout unit standard 25043.
