PURPOSE

This course will provide an understanding of drug classifications, offences and penalties under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975, as well as strategies for dealing with drug and alcohol related problems within an organisation.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

On completion of this eLearning course trainees will be able to:

  • Define drug classifications, offences and penalties in terms of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975.
  • Describe the behaviour and protocols that are used when dealing with individuals under the influence of drugs.
  • Describe how workers with drug and alcohol related problems are managed in an organisation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Any person working in drug and alcohol prevention programmes in the workplace. They do not hold a management role but are carrying out these duties in addition to their everyday work role.

This course also provides credits toward VHNZ’s New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety (Level 3).
