This course is for everyday lifting situations using a lifting device such as a Hiab type, excavators, and loaders. Candidates will lift known objects using certified chains and strops.

At the successful completion of the course the trainee will be able to:

• Prepare for a lift.
• Select and inspect plant and lifting equipment.
• Perform lift.
• Communicate with dogman.
• Attach and pull a load.

• Candidates need to have access to lifting equipment and will be required to perform two lifts.
• Attendees must be aged 15 years or over.

Large or complex lifts are not covered in this course (See “Introduction to load slinging” unit standard 30072 for this course, or “Overhead Crane- Cab controlled” unit standard 3790)
