Purpose

People accredited with these unit standards are able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Asbestos and associated health risks.
  • The range of safety procedures to follow when asbestos is present.
  • Measures to protect people doing asbestos-related work against asbestos exposure risk.

Course Objectives

On completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of asbestos and associated health risk.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of measures to control respiratory risk for people doing asbestos-related work.

Our Teaching Method

This can be delivered face-to-face or via e-learning with support from an experienced trainer.

Who Should Attend

This unit standard is for people who work, or intend to work, in construction. This unit standard is for people whose work may bring them into contact with asbestos.

The VHNZ course is designed for individuals engaged in unlicensed asbestos work - those working with bonded (non-friable) asbestos in small quantities.
