Earlier this year, we shared that Waihanga Ara Rau confirmed changes to high-risk short courses. This is a reminder that these changes will take effect from Monday 1st September 2025.
From this date, the way some of our short courses are delivered will change. These changes are designed to reduce bookwork and give you more time developing practical, workplace-focused skills.
WORKING AT HEIGHT:
Following these changes, Vertical Horizonz will no longer deliver 3 or 4 unit standard combination courses for Working at Heights. The new training formats are as below:
1. Working at Height Basic (WAHB)
Continues as a 1-day course, now covering only US 23229.
2. Working at Height Advanced (WAHA)
Continues as a 2-day course, now covering only US 23229 and US 15757.
3.Employ Height Safety Equipment in the Workplace (US 25045)
This unit standard can only be delivered In your workplace as 2-day standalone course. It can also be run as a day 2 option of WAHB.
4. Explain Safe Work Practices for Working at Heights (US 17600)
This course will now be delivered as a standalone course and will be 4 hours face-to-face or can be completed via eLearning.
MOBILE ELEVATED WORK PLATFORM (MEWP):
Public courses are now limited to two machines: US 23966 + two machines practical (1 day).
For group bookings, machine numbers can be increased, just speak to your local VHNZ Account Manager or give us a call.
- For example: 8 people on 2 machines, or 5 people on 3 machines
Training can continue to be held at your site or ours.
MEWP Refresher training is not impacted by these changes.
