People who attend this course can demonstrate and apply knowledge of small plant and its operation for infrastructure works, prepare to operate small plant, and carry out post-operational procedures.

At the completion of this course trainees will be able to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of small plant and its operation.
• Prepare to operate small plant.
• Carry out post-operational procedures on small plant for infrastructure works.

Learners must demonstrate competence for a minimum of two examples of two types of plant used in the workplace.

Small plant is defined as machinery that has a combustion engine and is operated manually. This excludes any ride on machine, any power tool, and any plant that does not require constant hands-on attention.

Assessment must take place in a workplace environment and the context must be specific to the candidates own role on site.
