The purpose of this course is to develop your understanding of factors that can damage hearing and ways to protect hearing in the workplace.

On completion of this eLearning course trainees will be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

• The mechanism of hearing, and the causes of impairment.
• How sound intensity is measured, the hearing comfort zone, and the effects of noise on the hearing mechanism.
• Types of, and the benefits of using, hearing protection equipment.
• Workplace hearing protection programme requirements.

Any person seeking to improve workplace health and safety.

Completion of this Unit Standard provides credits toward the VHNZ New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety (Level 3).
