ITEC Sydney
In early October Vertical Horizonz sent a small contingent over to the IRATA Itec conference in Sydney where they were able to learn from colleagues worldwide. As a new member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association it is important that Vertical Horizonz ensures that it is fully aware of the latest happenings within the industry to enable its training to be current and valid. Presentations were heard from representatives from each corner of the world as to the particular issues faced within their geographical region along with good practice that good be adopted elsewhere. One of the key presentations was made by the rope access geotechnical team that were engaged following the Kaikoura earthquake which detailed how the hazards on such a difficult site were managed including the use of a helicopter as their rescue plan! All the new learning is being put into place with the delivery of our rope access courses at our new centre based in Albany which has resulted in great feedback.
Setting our standards high!
It was a full house in our Albany centre during a recent NZQA Rope Access course! Given the number of trainees, lead instructor Michael Felton teamed up with Robin de Grus as assistant trainer making sure all individuals were covered. Fair to say that this crew had a great session 'hanging out' together!
