In late 2016 Vertical Horizonz New Zealand (VHNZ) passed the Audit by Bureau Veritas and can continue to offer this high level of training across NZ and the International wind energy sector.
VHNZ is New Zealand's sole approved training provider and one of three providers in Australasia.
VHNZ delivers Working at Heights, Fire Extinguisher, Manual Handling and First Aid Training across New Zealand and Internationally.
Three VHNZ trainers were selected to travel to the Philippines to deliver the training courses to 12 trainees all working within the Wind Turbine Industry.
The training was conducted over 12 days with 6 days being dedicated to Wind Turbine Height Rescue. The rescue training consisted of 8 different scenarios including but not limited to; self-evacuation from the top of the 90m turbines, ladder rescues, team stretcher rescues from various areas of the turbines, including the hub, yaw, the basement and the nacelle.
The trainees were at different levels with some having years of experience and novices within a new environment. By mixing up the training levels of trainees the less experienced could learn off the more experienced as well as the trainers, providing a safe and encouraging training environment.
Feedback from the training was that the trainees were left "buzzing" after the 12 days, excited and passionate about their new skills.
